Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the purposes for which it may be used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Union County Criminal History, you accept the practices stated below.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log of the terms entered into those partner searches.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email may be retained long enough to review it and respond. Messages remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

Loading a page can cause the servers to receive routine technical information, including:

  • Page-view dates, times, and visit duration
  • Device category and operating system
  • Browser name and version
  • Referring website, when available
  • Pages viewed during the visit
  • The device's assigned IP address

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help summarize traffic patterns, such as frequently visited pages and exit points. Browser controls can block or remove cookies, although doing so may change how some site features work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Routing a submitted search to the applicable partner
  • Finding and resolving performance or technical faults
  • Operating and improving site speed and availability
  • Understanding which content visitors use
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Union County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to records held by Union County agencies, New Jersey courts, the New Jersey State Police State Bureau of Identification, and the New Jersey Sex Offender Internet Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into third-party profiles or consumer reports, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies supply the site's search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to information submitted through those tools. Review the relevant provider's terms before starting a search because this policy does not govern the provider's processing.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to courts, the Union County Sheriff, state agencies, legal resources, or commercial search providers. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's own privacy practices control. Check those practices before providing personal information.

Advertising companies may use their systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. We do not operate that cross-site tracking.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

  • Analytics providers that measure site use and performance
  • Search partners processing a query submitted to their tool
  • Advertising networks serving content on the pages
  • A government or law-enforcement body acting under valid legal process

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security measures are used to protect collected information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such information is identified, we will take steps to delete it.

Your Data Rights

Applicable law, including the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, N.J.S.A. 56:8-1 et seq., may provide rights beyond those listed here. New Jersey's Open Public Records Act, N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq., governs requests to public agencies and does not convert this private site into a government custodian. Dissemination of State Bureau of Identification criminal history is separately controlled by N.J.S.A. 53:1-20.6 and N.J.A.C. 13:59. At a minimum, a visitor may:

  • Request access to personal information held about them
  • Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
  • Seek deletion where the law permits it
  • Object to or opt out of certain processing

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A revised version becomes available here with its current effective date.
